See: “Depth” & “Port de Hérel Marina Entrance” for safe navigation and entry.
Depths: The approach to the Harbour and Port de Hérel (Marina) dries for a considerable distance offshore.
Tidal Streams: Care is required when tide is flooding into approaches / harbour / marina.
Winds: The Harbour entrance is exposed in westerly, which can cause a chop in shallows when approaching.
Speed Limits: Approaches to harbour / marina is 5 knots reducing to 3 knots within harbour / marina.
Port de Hérel Marina Entrance: Digital depth gauge visible from seaward is mounted on south breakwater to Port de Hérel (Marina) and indicates depth over marina sill. Access to marina is approximately H.W. +/- 3 Hr. The Marina entrance has a drop down flap-gate, which dries 5.25m above chart datum. The flap-gate opens when there is 6.00m depth of tide above chart datum at which time the sill can be crossed in approximately 1m depth of water. For published times of entry. See: “Links”. Care should be taken when passing through the 16m wide gate as no traffic light system is operated.
Marina: Check availability of berths to accommodate 12 metre plus vessels prior to making passage for Granville. For times of entry. See: “Port de Hérel Marina Entrance”.
Port de Hérel (Marina): See: “Links”.
